My research interests traverse widely across several areas within technical and professional communication, but they all intersect at varying degrees with usability/UX and digital media. In general, my research interests include:
- Technical and Professional Communication
- User Experience and Usability
- Digital Media and Multimodality
- Civic Engagement and Public Writing
- Visual Rhetoric and Document Design
- Program Administration and Curriculum Development
Currently, I am working on an edited collection with three other technical communication scholars that focuses on professional identity and agency withing technical and professional communication contexts. I am also continuing research into online communities and natural resources management.
Creative projects include producing a variety of digital media, especially podcasts. With my colleague, Dr. Bill Williamson, I co-produce the podcast The Technical Rapport, which focuses on happenings with the Department of Rhetoric and Professional Writing at SVSU. We are also working on a new podcast series titled, Two Dudes Tech Comm, which will focus more broadly on technical and professional communication in the Great Lakes region.
